The following is a guide to using your IDN Business Card
IDN has created the IDN Business Card to provide better representation of the IDN community members on the site. As we value your privacy we have created a standard whereby none of your personal details are shown to others unless you explictly choose to have them displayed.
A word of caution before you begin: your email address, once it is visible, could potentially be viewed by spammers so please use discretion when deciding to use it. Remember also, if you choose not to share your details with the community, your name will not appear in the top contributor lists.
Updating the IDN Business Card
To access your IDN Business Card and update its contents you must be logged on to IDN. Go to IDN Profile Management found on the middle of the IDN Homepage. Go to IDN card tab and click on Edit. You are now ready to begin to populate the elements on the Business Card. Notice that only those elements that you designate as displayable with a checkmark next to them will be visible to others: The checkmark signifies that each data element marked will be shown on your IDN Business Card while no checkmark means that this data is not displayed. To save your entries and changes click the Save Changes button in the upper right corner of the page.
Viewing Your IDN Card
To view your Business Card click on the pushbutton "View my BC"; your Business Card is displayed with 3 tabs. The first tab is for "Personal Info" and contains the following parameters:
- relation to IDN
- alternative Email
- cell phone
Each of these elements is only available if enabled by your checkmarks. The second tab automatically contains your "Contribution Profile" with the following details:
There is also an area to display your favorite members names if you have chosen to display them. The third tab delineates "Skills" and contains:
your areas of expertise
a short bio
- a list of your professional weblog references
Again, these are only visible if you have chosen for them to be seen. Your Business Card links to your name, as it appears in your Forum posts and in your weblog contributions. Enjoy!!
